Nothing personal against the Jets, but to this day I cannot figure out why they never found a place to call their own. It all began when they abandoned their home in New York’s Shea Stadium (since demolished, for those of you who don’t follow baseball), and made the move to New Jersey, where they took up residence in GIANTS Stadium. And as readers know, next year the Jets will share a new stadium with the Giants , keeping the streak alive.
What always irked me about the arrangements the Jets had was that they refused to refer to the stadium by its given name, Giants Stadium. Instead, they referred to it as “the Meadowlands,” which is technically the name of the entire sports complex. Anyway, in their first game ever in Giants Stadium, the Jets lost by a score of 23-17 against Pittsburgh in a Thursday night game.
